Offshore Mahi Fishing: Hunting the Florida Gulf Stream
There is nothing quite like the electric rush of stepping out into the Florida Gulf Stream in search of Mahi Mahi(Dolphinfish). Flowing like a massive, warm-water river just miles off Florida’s Atlantic coast, the Gulf Stream is a pelagic superhighway. When the seasonal push brings the bait north, these neon-blue, gold, and green predators follow in massive schools—offering some of the most visual, chaotic, and rewarding offshore sportfishing on the planet.
Mahi Mahi are famous for three things: their blinding speed, their spectacular acrobatic leaps, and their status as the finest table fare in the ocean. Whether you are running out of Miami, the Florida Keys, or the Palm Beaches, the Gulf Stream is your gateway to world-class Mahi action.
The Hunt: Finding Mahi in the Stream
In the vast expanse of the open ocean, catching Mahi Mahi is all about reading the water and locating micro-ecosystems within the current. Our captains look for specific blue-water tells to put you right in the middle of the bite:
Sargassum Weed Lines: Massive mats of floating golden-brown seaweed serve as an oasis in the open desert of the ocean. Small crabs, shrimp, and baitfish hide in the weeds—and Mahi treat it like an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Frigate Birds & Terns: If you want to find the fish, watch the skies. A hovering, diving Frigate bird is the ultimate radar; they shadow large packs of hungry Mahi pushing bait to the surface.
Floating Debris: A lost pallet, a piece of bamboo, or a discarded bucket can hold thousands of fish. In the Gulf Stream, any floating structure is a potential goldmine.
Temperature Breaks & Color Changes: Where the deep, indigo-blue Gulf Stream water collides with cooler coastal water, bait accumulates and Mahi patrol the edges.
Tactics for a Gulf Stream Slam
We utilize a dynamic, multi-tiered approach to ensure your coolers are packed and your rods stay bent:
Trolling PhaseThe StrategyTop Baits / LuresCovering WaterTrolling the edges of weed lines or open blue water at 6 to 9 knots to locate active schools.Skirted Ballyhoo, Bright Chuggers, Squid Lures, FeathersThe Schoolmaster FrenzyOnce a fish is hooked, we keep it in the water next to the boat. The rest of the school will follow it right to the transom.Live Pilchards, Threadfin Herring, Cut Squid, Light Spinning GearHunting the "Slammers"Large, solitary male Mahi (Bull Mahi) love to sit deep beneath the smaller schoolies or far behind the boat.

ooking for a thrill that takes your offshore angling to the absolute limit? Welcome to the world of kite fishing. Originally perfected in South Florida for targeting prize billfish, this specialized technique has become the secret weapon for serious saltwater anglers worldwide.
Whether you are chasing tournament-winning Sailfish, massive Yellowfin Tuna, or aggressive Kingfish, kite fishing offers an unparalleled presentation that traditional trolling simply cannot match.
What is Kite Fishing?
At its core, kite fishing is exactly what it sounds like: using a specially designed, wind-resistant kite to fly your fishing lines away from the boat.
The kite acts as a sky-high outrigger. By suspending your bait directly beneath the kite, your line stays completely out of the water. This leaves your live bait dancing frantically right at the surface, sending out massive distress signals to apex predators below.
Why Kite Fishing Outperforms Traditional Methods
Flawless Presentation: Because your leader and terminal tackle are suspended in the air, fish cannot see the line. All they see is an easy, unprotected meal splashing on the surface.
Zero Line Friction: Without line dragging through the water, live baits can swim naturally and stay alive much longer.
Massive Surface Commotion: A panicked goggle-eye, threadfin, or blue runner struggling on the surface creates an irresistible acoustic dinner bell for pelagic species.
Stealth Mode: It allows you to present bait far away from the boat’s hull and engine noise, which is crucial for easily spooked, pressurized fish.

There is a moment just past the horizon where the green coastal water gives way to a deep, royal ink-blue. This is the blue water—a vast, sapphire highway ruled by the fastest, strongest, and most spectacular gamefish on the planet.
Blue-water trolling is the peak of offshore sportfishing. It is a high-stakes game of strategy, speed, and adrenaline where you cover miles of open ocean, hunting the current rips and temperature breaks where apex predators feed. When a massive billfish or pelagic predator slams the spread, the sound of a screaming drag is the ultimate rush.
The Thrill of the Spread: What is Blue-Water Trolling?
Trolling in the deep blue is far more than just dragging lures behind a boat; it is the art of creating a moving illusion. By deploying a strategic matrix of surface lures, rigged baits, deep-diving plugs, and artificial teasers, we mimic a panicked school of baitfish moving through the water column.
Why Blue-Water Trolling is Unmatched:
Maximum Coverage: We hunt the ocean's highways, crossing deep-sea drop-offs, underwater seamounts, and current lines to find active fish.
The Element of Surprise: In the blue water, you never truly know what’s on the other end of the line until it leaps out of the water.
Multi-Species Action: A single properly tuned trolling spread can simultaneously attract everything from neon Mahi Mahi to 500-pound Billfish.

Step past the edge of the shallow reefs and enter a world hidden in total darkness. Boynton Beach deep drop fishingtakes you to the extreme depths of the Atlantic Ocean—ranging from 400 to over 1,500 feet down—where the water is ice-cold, the pressure is immense, and some of the most delicious, exotic fish on earth call home.
Because the continental shelf drops off so aggressively right outside the Boynton Inlet, you don’t have to run 40 miles offshore to find the abyss. Within just a few miles of the coast, you are floating over deep-sea canyons, prehistoric ledges, and muddy burrows perfectly positioned in the nutrient-rich flow of the Gulf Stream.
The Deep-Sea Bounty: What We Catch in the Deep
Deep dropping isn't about numbers; it's about targeting highly prized, premium culinary species that never see the light of day.
1. The Royalty: Queen Snapper & Silk Snapper
The Vibe: Neon-crimson, striking long tails, and arguably the finest tasting fish in the Atlantic.
The Depth: 600 to 1,000 feet over rugged, high-relief rocky structures and deep-sea humps.
Tactics: Multi-hook "chicken rigs" tipped with fresh squid or bonita strips, dropped right along deep underwater ledges.
2. The Heavyweights: Snowy Grouper & Yellowedge Grouper
The Vibe: Pure, brutal strength. These deep-sea giants live in caves and will try to pin your rig into the rocks the second they are hooked.
The Depth: 450 to 1,100 feet.
Tactics: Heavy-duty circle hooks (12/0 to 16/0) loaded with large chunks of fresh cut bait to entice a massive, solitary bite.
3. The Gold Standard: Golden Tilefish & Blueline Tilefish
The Vibe: Often called the "lobster of the sea" for their sweet, flaky white meat.
The Depth: 400 to 900 feet.
Tactics: Unlike groupers, Tilefish live in colonies and create burrows in soft, muddy bottoms. We target the smooth clay flats right off the Boynton Hump, keeping the weight pinned firmly to the seafloor.

Welcome to Boynton Beach, home to one of the most dynamic and fast-paced reef fishing ecosystems in the Sunshine State. What makes Boynton Beach bottom fishing legendary is our unique underwater topography. Here, the continental shelf narrows dramatically. Within just 1 to 2 miles of clearing the Boynton Inlet, you step off the coastal ledge into 60 to 300+ feet of water, right into the highway of the Atlantic Gulf Stream.
For anglers, this means zero wasted travel time. You go from the dock to dropping lines over thriving coral ledges, historic shipwrecks, and artificial reef systems in minutes. Whether you’re targeting a cooler full of flaky Snapper fillets or battling a freight-train Grouper, Boynton Beach offers premier, year-round bottom action.
The Hit List: What We Catch on the Boynton Ledges
The combination of strong, clean ocean currents and heavy structure makes Boynton Beach a magnet for massive bottom dwellers and reef predators.
1. The Snapper Trio (Mutton, Mangrove, & Yellowtail)
The Vibe: High-speed action, smart fish, and incredible table fare.
Where to Find Them: Yellowtail Snapper swarm the mid-water column on the local patch reefs (60–90 feet). Large Mangrove (Gray) Snappers hug tight to the rocky ledges, while the prized, hard-fighting Mutton Snapperpatrol the deeper sand lines and reef edges down to 200 feet.
Boynton Tactics: Because the water here is crystal clear, light fluorocarbon leaders (20–40 lb) are essential. Long-lining dead baits or drifting live shrimp through a heavy chum slick is the ticket to a limit.
2. The Grouper Heavyweights (Black, Red, & Gag)
The Vibe: A brutal, drag-locking test of pure strength. You have to turn their heads instantly before they break you off in the rocks.
Where to Find Them: The deep natural ledges off Boynton and the dozens of intentionally sunken ships and concrete structures.
Boynton Tactics: Drop large live baits like pinfish, goggle eyes, or blue runners on heavy conventional tackle (50–80 lb class) with the drag locked down tight.
3. Boynton’s Famous Wreck Dwellers (Amberjack & Kingfish)
The Vibe: Back-breaking vertical battles and blistering initial runs.
Where to Find Them: Suspended directly over the deeper artificial wrecks (120–250 feet).
Boynton Tactics: Drop heavy metal vertical jigs or butterflied speedos to trigger aggressive strikes from trophy-sized Amberjacks ("Reef Donkeys") and tournament-grade King Mackerel.
Step Aboard the Ultimate 252 Mako Center Console

Captain Barry’s legendary 252 Mako is one of the most iconic center console hulls ever produced, completely customized and rigged to give you an elite unfair advantage on the water.

Tournament-Ready Fishing Features & Upgrades
We’ve spared no expense outfitting our Mako 252 with the absolute best marine hardware and technology available. Here is what sets our vessel apart from the standard local charter fleet:
State-of-the-Art Livewell System with Seachest: Big game requires pristine, lively bait. Our custom high-pressure Seachest filtration system ensures constant, air-free water flow to our massive livewell. This keeps goggle eyes, pilchards, and blue runners incredibly active and healthy all day long.
Premium Taco Outriggers: To maximize our presentation, we deploy top-tier outriggers to pull a massive 5-rod spread. By widening our footprint, we eliminate tangled lines and trigger explosive surface bites from Sailfish, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, and Kingfish.
Advanced Marine Electronics & CMOR Mapping: Finding the fish is science, not luck. Our boat features ultra-crisp Garmin electronics integrated with CMOR Mapping high-resolution bathymetric charts. This game-changing sonar technology lets us pinpoint hidden wrecks, ledges, and deep-water drop-offs with absolute precision, making our deep-dropping trips incredibly productive.
Creature Comforts & Angler Amenities
While our Mako 252 is built to handle hardcore offshore battles, it’s equally equipped to handle families, novices, and corporate groups looking for a first-class day on the water.
